“Let us strive to know the Lord.🌿 Hosea 6:3
His appearance is as sure as the dawn.
He will come to us like the rain, like the spring showers that water the land.”
Every now and then I flip over to read about Hosea and Gomer; or to get deeper, God and me.
The symbolism in this story reflects so much of my own story.
As a woman, being desired and wanted is a precious thing in my heart. Sometimes in my walk with Christ, I forget that He sees something in me worth dying for. (Do you do this too?)
When God called Hosea to marry a prostitute, I’m sure there were days when Hosea wanted to give up and listen to his broken heart.
Just put yourself in Hosea’s shoes for a moment. He was a prophet who heard God’s voice saying, “Go, take yourself a wife of harlotry.” This was the first message of the Lord to Hosea. Once He goes and marries this woman, He [I’m assuming] pays for her release and takes her to his homeland where people are probably mocking Him for following the voice of the Lord. We know that even after Hosea saves her from her life of harlotry, that she returns to it. She even chases after some of her lovers and leaves her children and husband behind. Yet, Hosea is there. God gives Him enduring, faithful love. So Hosea goes and gets her once more. (Hosea 3:1)
Is this not us?? How often do we turn away from our Lord? We run away from our first love and go seek love somewhere else.
There are days when I take 1 step forward and 2, or even 3 steps backward. But His love is the same.
As I was walking the dogs this morning I was reminded about how His appearance is like the sunrise in the East. We’ll always rely on it to come. He’ll never leave you or forsake you. (Deut.31:6)
In Psalm 116, it talks about being humble enough to realize that we cannot survive without His mercy. That we can’t do this alone. We can’t. We’re not supposed to live this life alone. He made you for a purpose. He chose you.
You are loved. Adored. Honored. ❤️
