Get ready, this is a deep devotion. I’ve been working on this one for weeks. I’ve prayed over it many times. I’ve been convicted and challenged. And I hope that you get something out of it like I did.

Do you ever wonder if you need to take care of your soul?

It is the most important thing we own, is it not?

We need physical help, so why don’t we need spiritual help as well? We spend minutes, upon hours trying to change our outer appearance through workouts, dieting, makeup, clothes, etc.
You can’t organize your physical life to balance out your spiritual life.

“My beloved in whom My soul is well pleased! I will put My spirit upon him.”

Let’s talk about basic facts.

Our soul is connected to God when we are His children.

Our soul is built by Him and for Him. Our soul was made into being the moment we were created. The way we hear our purpose is by the soul, but ultimately from God.

Our soul is our greatest possession.

It is the only thing we take to eternity. We should be good stewards of our soul.
Remember ⇒ who we become is greater than what we can accomplish.

“What profit if a man loses his soul-“
The body outside decays daily, but our soul can get better or worse, by our decisions. Ask yourself this: am I growing closer to God today?

“do not fear the one who may take your life, but your soul-“
Insert your name below.
“For what will it profit to ____ if I gain the whole world, and lose my own soul?” What will it profit to my family? My friends? My co-workers?
We can never find rest outside of God because it was built for Him to rest in. He is the only One who can fill it.

“Our inner person is being renewed-“

What does our soul need?

Salvation through God’s Son, Jesus Christ. Without Salvation, we are separated by the sin in our lives. Until we confess and believe in Him we are lost.
“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God-“
Nourishment through the Holy, Inspired written Word of God.
“Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.”
Rest in Him. God didn’t just create the Sabbath day for rest, He wants us to be still and know that He is in control. This is why it is SO important to have a personal quiet time! When we get alone with God, we can really rest in Him.

“take up my yoke – you will find rest for your soul-“

Our soul needs love from God.

“the steadfast love of God-“
A man confronted Jesus and asked Him what the greatest commandment was.
“And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment.”
As God first loved us, we ought to love Him in return.
So what do we need to do? Let God love us. We try to block every entry into our soul. Why do we lock the doors of our own sorrow and grief? God wants not just some of you. He wants ALL of you. (Yes, I know it does seem scary). But once we have given over captainship, there’s no turning back. God will transform your life into something that we could have never imagined or ourselves.

So how are you taking care of your soul?
