A Gift Bigger Than Life

One year the presents were overtaking the house.

I remember one year for Christmas at my Nana’s the entire living room was full of gifts. There was barely enough room to sit down!

There has only been one gift in time when it was so impactful that it left no more space in a house.

“Immediately many gathered together so that there was no longer room to receive them, not even near the door. And He preached the word to them.”
Mark 2:2

Can you imagine? The entire house was full of people surrounding Jesus. But that didn’t stop the lame man’s friends from getting him in.

“And when they could not come near Him because of the crowd, they uncovered the roof where He was. So when they had broken through, they let down the bed on which the paralytic was lying.”

Mark 2:4

Why do you think they were desperate enough to break through the roof? Because they knew what was inside could save them internally.

Do we look at Jesus like that?

Someone who can save us and heal us and love us and be there for us. Someone who lived in this world seeing and touching and healing people he would die for?

I never really thought about that before a couple of days ago. Jesus is God’s Son, He knew what cup he had to drink to fulfill the prophecies. He knew that he would have to die. But did that stop Him from going out every day to bring people hope? He could’ve done nothing. Dying on the cross is more than enough. I’ve got news for you, Jesus isn’t the average human.

He’s the Son of the Highest. And He not only came to heal the sick and lame, give sight to the blind, cleansed people, and raised the dead. He gave us life. Eternal life!

Jesus Christ is the only one who has the power to give us what we could never deserve for ourselves. He became flesh for us so that God could be with us.

From the beginning of time, in the garden of Eden God walked with Adam and Eve. The world was beautiful and perfect. He spent time with Adam and Eve like it was a normal physical thing. But sin crept in and destroyed that relationship. Because of sin, we could no longer walk with God.

Not until 4 centuries later. When the second Adam, J E S U S, came in the form of a baby.

It’s wild to wrap your mind around sometimes the amazing story of the gospel. But with the Holy Spirit as your guide it makes sense. Because of Jesus, we can have the Holy Spirit always.

Even though Christmas is over, never forget the most precious and greatest gift that has ever been given. The gospel of Jesus Christ.
