One day at Walmart, this little boy was helping his mom get the groceries into the buggy. After I scanned a big bag of wood for burning, I placed it on the top of the bag rack. The little boy surprised me by picking it up by himself, and keep this in mind, this little guy is only like 4. He was holding it and didn’t realize how heavy it was and began backing up and leaning back, saying “ohhh!” His mother caught him and I couldn’t help but laugh at the image.
Do you ever wonder if God laughs at us when we try carrying things too heavy for us?
It’s comical really. God is probably used to seeing us try to carry our heavy loads by ourselves. Why do we put so much on ourselves when we don’t have to??
I remember the first time I watched Pilgrim’s Progress, how silly it seemed when he kept loading himself with things on his shoulders when all he needed to do was give it all to Jesus. But sometimes it takes the silly things or the things that we are oblivious to in order to change our thinking. I know when I saw that little boy at Walmart trying to carry the bag that was twice the size he was, it hit me. Why am I trying to carry all this on my own?
“For God did not send His Son into the world that He might condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.”
What makes a true friend? And do I really need an inner circle?
We are made for companionship, Gen. 2:18 says so. A true friend is someone who will not only love you for your attributes but will care and lift you up during the hard times.
There’s this awesome group of girls that meet on Tuesdays. We have so much fun sharing stories and simply talking about Jesus. Maybe a little bit of Refit too. 😉
Being a part of a group like that helps me so much in my own walk. It gives me accountability and motivation for sharing the Word.
If you feel like this would help you unload, start a Bible Study group, pray about it and get some people together! Message me or comment your info below and I can forward our books/tools that we have been using!
“For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there among them.”
Jesus was friends with many people after He taught them and showed them miracles. Yet, He chose 12 men to be with Him through every step. If Jesus thought it was necessary to have those close friends or people around Him, don’t you think we might need to do the same?
“Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.”
Ultimately, we simply need to lay our burdens down at the Father’s feet. Having friends to help you and to remind you of this is so good. Do you have an inner circle in your life? If not, why are you carrying it all on your own?
