Worth + Failures

Lauren Daigle’s song, “You Say” has emotionally wrecked me many times.

“The only thing that matters now is everything You think of me
In You, I find my worth, in You I find my identity-“

The words of that song are so perfectly accurate for you and for me. We can find worth in Him.

You know how special that topic is to me. I write about it in almost every post!

Today, I want to discuss a sort of different topic related to that one.

– Your Failures –

“Am I more than just the sum of every high and every low?”

We always want to discuss the joyful and happier things about who we are and what makes us special, but never discuss what makes us fall.

Every person has their own sinful natures and mistakes. Jesus said that every day you would have to “deny [yourself], and take up [your] cross, and follow Me.” (Matt. 16:24) Not every day is as beautiful as people on Instagram make you believe. I don’t know about you but I struggle with food and my body image constantly. My highs and lows are what I look like in the mirror. I struggle to find value in myself so I turn to food to make me happy. I turn to binge and stuffing myself instead of finding contentment in the arms of the Savior.

Our failures are what make us. Every failure has two outcomes. We can either choose to stand in the valley or walk up to the mountaintop. But every opportunity to fail is another opportunity to be victorious.

– God holds the victory –

“You have every failure God, and You’ll have every victory”

When we persevere, know that it isn’t us alone. He is helping us win those battles. Every time we choose to move past our failures, He makes us worthy of being who we were supposed to be.

– You are more than your failures and victories –

You do not have to let every mistake you make define you. Some people do, and that is their decision, but oftentimes that leads you into the cycle of self-guilt and giving up on trying for better.  Remember you are His, that is all you need to be!

I hope you needed these wandering thoughts as much as I did!
